Who should attend

ICND2 is designed for those who have a firm background in data networking, have some hands-on experience with Cisco routers and switches, and are looking to increase their knowledge of installation, maintaining, and troubleshooting medium-sized switched and routed networks or for those who are looking to achieve the first level of Cisco certification, the CCNA.

We strongly recommend that other students start with ICND1.

Course Objectives

Upon completing this course, the delegate will be able to meet the following objectives:

  • Review how to configure and troubleshoot a small network
  • Expand the switched network from a small LAN to a medium-sized LAN with multiple switches, supporting VLANs, trunking, and spanning tree
  • Describe routing concepts as they apply to a medium-sized network and discuss considerations when implementing routing on the network
  • Configure, verify, and troubleshoot OSPF
  • Configure, verify, and troubleshoot EIGRP
  • Determine how to apply ACLs based on network requirements, and to configure, verify, and troubleshoot ACLs on a medium-sized network
  • Describe when to use NAT or PAT on a medium-sized network, and configure NAT or PAT on routers
  • Identify and implement the appropriate WAN technology based on network requirements

Course Content

This hands-on Cisco course builds from the ICND 1 course and provides students with a technical foundation for the rest of the Authorized Cisco curriculum. This course will provide you with information needed to pass the CCNA certification exams. The final day includes a mega-lab "Capstone Project", bringing together all the skills developed through the week. The most recent version of the course, ICND 2 Version 1.1 includes the following new additions and more:

  • DNS Considerations with IPv6
  • STP Operations
  • Configuring RSTP
  • Securing Switch Devices
